Humanizing and fun

Where can you be more, “Yes, and…”?

We feel such conversations “went well” and we’re glad for the humanizing experience.

Good improv requires considerable effort. The act of “yes, and…” requires nimble thinking, an assumption of positive intent, and the leaning-in posture of engagement. Good-will is absolutely necessary for improv to work well. And it’s so easy to detect when good-will missing.

Good conversation mixes opinions, feelings, facts and ideas in an improvisational exchange with one or more individuals in an atmosphere of good will. It inspires mutual insight, respect and, most of all, joy. It is a way of relaxing the mind, opening the hart and connecting, authentically, with others. To converse well is surprising, humanizing and fun.

Respect for another person comes from our admiration of, what? I think it’s when we see something we find impressive. Another person, bringing good-will and solid (and yet sometimes light-hearted) effort, quickly earns our respect.

We feel such conversations “went well” and we’re glad for the humanizing experience. The entire experience feels joyful and fun.

Where can you be more, “Yes, and…”?
